Continually remind them of the hope and future You have in store for them. Â Show them how their life impacts and enriches others. Â help them to see that despite their weaknesses, You have great plans for them that You will act out according to Your good purpose.

Give them the ability to speak apt words that build up those who listen. Â Keep them from self-focused talk. Â May people want to be with them in order to hear their grace-filled conversation.

Daily renew them inwardly, Lord. Â Guard them from focusing on the present failing, and help them to view life from Your perspective. Â Remind them that their troubles are achieving an eternal glory that far outweighs what they suffer now.

Lord, assure them that You will go ahead of them in all the challenges of life. Â Even when they cannot feel Your presence, give them the faith to trust that You will never leave them. Â May they be able to say, as Job did, “My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.”

Thank You, Lord, that You will never allow them to suffer more than they can bear. Â Prompt them always to turn to You for refuge and rescue rather than to deceptive and self-destructive means of temporary escape.

Lord, please guard their heart and mind. Â You have not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and of a sound mind. Â Give them peace that passes understanding. Â help them to think thoughts that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy.Â

Father of all compassion, please comfort them in all their troubles. Â And then, Lord, bring someone to them with whom they can share this sweet comfort.

God of hope, please fill them with all joy and peace as they trust in You so that they may overflow with hope by the power of Your Spirit. Â Thank You that as they continue to hope in You, they will never be disappointed.

Cause them to rejoice because they know that You are using this trial to produce perseverance, character, and hope. Â Deepen their conviction that when they have stood this test, You will give them a crown of life. May they imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what You have promised.

Glorify Yourself in their struggle, Lord. Â Display Your work in their life by demonstrating Your grace and power in their weakness.
